Check out where to stay in London. We’ll give you tips on the best areas and how to find great hotels at incredible prices.
How is the city of London divided?
Before we look at the best places to stay in London, it’s important to note that the city is divided into 9 circular zones, with 1 being the most central and 9 the most distant. That’s why we recommend that you stay in the first zones, because the further you are from the center, the more you’ll have to spend on transport.
So choose at least zones 1 or 2. These are closer to London’s tourist attractions and offer the most accommodation.
1. Westminster: the best place to stay
The Westminster district is very close to Buckingham Palace. And, although its accommodation is a little more expensive, you’ll be close to many other incredible sights such as Big Ben and the London Eye Ferris wheel.

2. Covent Garden
This is also a great option if you want to stay in London. Covent Garden is very close to the city center and is very lively: full of bars and restaurants with lots of attractions for young people.
3. Kensington
The Kensington area is another great option for staying in the city. Here you’ll be close to Harrods department store and the incredible London Natural History Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, which are very famous.
This area is prime, full of modern hotels and with transportation to all areas.
4. Soho
This district is right in the heart of the city and is full of theaters, restaurants and bars, as well as many tourist attractions. In Soho, in particular, you’ll find many LGBT bars and gay-friendly areas.
The main subway line in the area is the Piccadilly, and the most recommended hotels in Soho are the Dean Street Townhouse, Citadines Trafalgar Square, Royal Horseguards and The Nadler Soho.
5. Kings Cross
For those looking to save a lot on their trip to London and stay in a good hotel, this is a great option. Kings Cross is an area located around Kings Cross St. Pancras tube station, where you catch the Eurostar. In addition, the British Museum is nearby – don’t miss it.
6. SouthBank and SouthWark
This tip is also for people who want to save a lot on their trip. SouthBank and SouthWark is located on the other side of the River Thames. It’s a less touristy but cheaper area.
Our tip for this area is to stay in a hotel close to the River Thames, as this way you’ll be well located and close to the subway stations.
How do I find great hotels at the best price in London?
A good tip for finding great hotels at incredible prices in the area you want to save a lot on your stay is to use this London Hotel Finder. We always use it because it’s the largest hotel booking site in the world, so it’s the best place to book with confidence and security.
Plus, because it has all the hotels in London and around the world in its searches, the prices are unbeatable, due to the strong negotiation they have with the hotels.
We always make our reservations there so that we don’t have any problems and we save a lot. And the site has reviews by guests who have already stayed in the hotels, which helps a lot when evaluating each one.
An excellent tip is to filter your search by “Neighborhood”, where you can select the regions, and also “Guest reviews” and put “Very good upwards”. You’ll get a search with the best hotels, in the best areas and with excellent guest reviews. It’s a guarantee of excellent accommodation at the best price in London. And check out the free cancellation tip below, which is great and very worthwhile.
Finally, another great tip for those booking a hotel is that this search engine has a very strong partnership with the establishments and they offer free cancellation for most hotels. So, when you search, just check the hotels that say “Free cancellation”. So you can book your hotel right away, to guarantee the price, and if you later find a better one or don’t want to stay there, just cancel.
It’s super simple and free of charge. As prices rise very quickly from one day to the next and the best hotels sell out quickly, our tip is to go in and book into a good hotel to guarantee it. We’ve even found ourselves without the hotel we wanted and paying more for another one in a matter of hours.
