Find out how to enjoy the nightlife in Mexico City and make the most of your trip there in a variety of cool places.

Where is the nightlife in Mexico City?

The vast majority of the city’s bars and nightclubs are concentrated in three neighborhoods: Polanco, Condesa and Roma, all relatively close to the center. Polanco is the most sophisticated, while Condesa and Roma are more cultural and have recently been revitalized. Find out now what to do in them:

1. Dancing

In the three neighborhoods we’ve mentioned above, you’ll find lively nightclubs, perfect for dancing and meeting new people. Just remember to arrive early – and if you drink, don’t drive. Some of the most famous clubs are

  • SENS: focused on electronic music and located in the Bosques de Las Lomas neighborhood.
  • 1OAK: also electronic and located in the Polanco neighborhood.
  • Mama Rumba: focused on reggaeton and located in the Roma neighborhood.

2. Spend the evening in a bar

We’ve already told you that the drinks in Mexico are incredible and the bars in the capital have a lot to offer. When in doubt, give them a try:

  • Living Room Bar
  • Pata Negra Bar
  • Xaman Bar
  • Balmori Roofbar
  • Important tip: Mexico City is a city with many tourist attractions, such as museums and tours. That’s why our tip is to always buy your tickets in advance. We buy everything on this website that has the best price.

3. Watching a wrestling show

Without a doubt, this is the most different – and most worthwhile – night out in this destination. One of the most exciting and unique experiences in Mexico City is watching a Lucha Libre, a form of Mexican wrestling known for its masked wrestlers and spectacular acrobatics.

The Coliseo Arena is one of the most iconic places to watch these fights, offering spectators a close-up view of the action and adrenaline of this popular sport. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant and energetic atmosphere of Lucha Libre while cheering on the wrestlers and taking part in one of Mexico’s most beloved traditions.

4. Mexico City night tour

Another excellent suggestion for enjoying the night in Mexico City is to explore its main avenues. The most notable are Avenida Paseo de La Reforma and Avenida Presidente Masaryk.

And you can do this on foot or by taking a night bus tour, which takes in Ángel de la Independencia, on Paseo de la Reforma; the Zócalo or Plaza de la Constitución, Plaza Garibaldi or the Diana Cazadora fountain. You’ll get another perspective of the city.

5. Street-food tastings in the evening

Another essential way to get to know a city is through its gastronomy. Mexico City is famous for its delicious cuisine, which is appreciated worldwide, and for its many famous eateries and street stalls.

Here, as well as trying local specialties (such as tacos al pastor, tacos de canasta and traditional tacos), you’ll learn why Mexican cuisine has been declared an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. This walking tour also gives you the chance to explore the city’s main streets at dusk.

6. Special dinner

Fancy a quiet evening with good food? Book a dinner in Mexico City. Some special restaurants for this are:

  • Café de Tacuba
  • Azul Histórico
  • La Pagoda
  • Porfirio’s
  • San Angel Inn
  • Bálcon Del Zócalo
  • Or the famous Bellini revolving restaurant, located in the World Trade Center, with a 360º view.

7. Learn about the legend of the Llorona through a show

Another excellent option is to attend a traditional Mexican show, such as the Legend of the Llorona in Xochimilco, which is like a theater full of colors, pyrotechnics and information. And before enjoying the show, we recommend visiting the “Place of Flowers”. This neighborhood is known for the unique way in which it celebrates the oldest Mexican traditions.

8. Discover the Day of the Dead with a special dinner

Traveling between the end of October and the beginning of November? Enjoy the local tradition of the Day of the Dead with another night tour of Xochimilco, which starts in the afternoon on Valentín Gómez Farías Street and features typical stories along with a buffet dinner full of local specialties such as pan de muerto and chapulines.
