The season lasts in Venice from June 21 to September 22 and is marked by being the hottest in the city, when temperatures fluctuate between 17ºC and 28ºC.
What to pack? Cooler clothes are very welcome, such as shorts and t-shirts. However, it’s also important to pack a jacket in case the temperature drops at night. Other items that make a difference are hats, caps, sunscreen and water bottles for walks.

What to do during the summer in Venice?
There’s no shortage of options during the summer, as you can enjoy both indoor places and open tourist attractions.
1. Rialto Bridge: this is the oldest bridge in Venice and one of the most beautiful in the whole city. Built between 1588 and 1591, it crosses the Grand Canal and today is also a small shopping center, with many stores and stalls around it.
2. St. Mark’s Basilica: the main church and religious cradle of the city is also a piece of Venetian history. First built in 828 AD, St. Mark’s Basilica underwent several modifications over the centuries until it reached the structure that impresses today.
Affectionately nicknamed the “Golden Church”, the basilica’s more than 4,000 square meters contain delicate mosaics full of details about biblical passages and references to Catholicism. In addition, this church is where the body of the evangelist St. Mark is buried.
3. St. Mark’s Square: still in the area around St. Mark’s Cathedral, you can pass by St. Mark’s Square. Also known as Piazza San Marco, this is one of the most beautiful squares in Venice and Italy.
It is made up of historic buildings such as St. Mark’s Basilica, the Palazzo Ducale, the Clock Tower and the Campinale, which is the tower that holds the basilica’s bells. It’s also a beautiful place to take pictures in the city.
4. Doge’s Palace: located next to St. Mark’s Basilica, this is probably the most interesting place for those who like architecture and history. The Doge’s Palace was inaugurated in 1424 and has Gothic architecture, which tourists can visit today (for a fee). For almost seven centuries it was home to the Doge of Venice, the city’s rulers.
5. Bridge of Sighs: another very famous bridge is the Bridge of Sighs, which connects the Palazzo Ducale to the building that housed Venice’s old prison. It even got its name from the prisoners. According to legend, they sighed as they passed over the bridge, seeing the world for the last time.

6. Take a trip to Burano, Murano and Torcello: this is an extra excursion that not everyone does, but which is VERY worthwhile. There are three islands off Venice that can be visited in a single 7-hour tour.
They are Burano, Murano and Torcello, each famous for its own reason. Murano, for example, has approximately 5,500 inhabitants and is 1 km from Venice. It is famous for its works of Murano glass (a type of glass produced on the Venetian island of Murano several centuries ago).

7. Enjoy the nightlife in Venice: there’s plenty to do in the city. As well as visiting the city’s great bars and pubs, you can visit the Dorsoduro area, which is a lively university district with plenty of bars to choose from. You can also have fun at the Venice Casino and enjoy the city’s nightclubs.
