About the seasons in Verona
What is winter like?
In the city, this season covers the months of December to March, with temperatures ranging from -1ºC to 4ºC, January being the coldest month with lows of -1ºC and highs of 6ºC. Because of this, the flow of tourists in Verona is lower, which makes these the best months for those who want to travel on a budget.
However, it’s worth remembering that there is an exception for the end-of-year celebrations that take place in December, Christmas and New Year’s Eve. During these days, the influx of people on the streets increases, making everything more expensive. Even so, if you want to experience the end of the year in the city, it’s well worth it.
What to pack? We recommend that you take plenty of protection against the low temperatures. That’s why you should pack thick coats, woolen clothes, pants, closed shoes, hats, gloves and ear protectors.
What to do in Verona? The most recommended tourist attractions to visit during the season are closed places. So avoid walking or staying too long in open places, such as the Ponte Pietra, the Ponte Scaligero, as well as squares and gardens. However, there are still plenty of attractions to visit during this time, such as the Verona Arena, Juliet’s House, the Verona theaters, the Castelvecchio Museum and the city’s ancient churches.

What is summer like?
This season takes place from June to September and is marked by high temperatures, ranging from 14ºC to 30ºC, as well as a great feeling of hot weather, especially in August.
These months are considered high season in the region, as they fall precisely during the school vacation period in the northern hemisphere. As a result, the streets are fuller, the queues for attractions longer and the prices higher.
Even so, there are ways to save a little on the costs of your trip to Italy. We’ve already written an article on how to plan a trip to Verona on a budget, so if you’re interested in visiting the city in the summer, check it out.
What to pack? To withstand the high temperatures, we recommend that you pack light, cool clothes. Some tips are dresses, shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and water bottles.
What to do in Verona? Just like in spring, summer is the time when you can see all the possible sights. But we recommend that you prioritize open-air attractions such as parks, monuments and squares. However, there is a chance of waiting in queues for hours and facing crowded streets in Verona’s historic center.
