If you want to visit Florence and your priority is a cheaper trip, we recommend going in November, February or March. This period corresponds to winter and the low season in the city, which is when the flow of tourists drops dramatically. As a result, ticket and accommodation prices drop considerably and the queues for attractions are considerably shorter.
There is an exception in December and January, which, although they also correspond to winter, have the bonus of the end-of-year festivities. So, although in theory these months correspond to the low season, there is a peak in visitors and prices during Christmas and New Year.
On the other hand, if you can’t stand low temperatures, it will be harder to enjoy the open spaces. After all, the lows are 0ºC and the highs reach 12ºC, and there is a chance of snow in the city, although this is quite uncommon there.
Also, for those who want to see many of the sights in Florence, this is not the best time. Because of the cold, we don’t recommend that you risk spending hours on the streets, but we do recommend that you go indoors to protect yourself from the cold, such as museums, churches and castles.

Finally, if you want to travel around Florence with sightseeing as your priority, we recommend traveling between March and May and between September and November. These months correspond to the mid-seasons: spring (end of March to May) and fall (end of September to November).
They are, by far, the periods we recommend the most, as they also offer good prices and mild weather. Temperatures in the city during spring are a minimum of 5ºC and a maximum of 24ºC and during fall they are a minimum of 6ºC and a maximum of 27ºC.
