How to get from New York airport to your hotel by transfer?
If you’re not interested in renting a car, the best way to keep yourself safe and save money is to hire a transfer. They will take you from your hotel to the airport and vice versa, preventing you from having to fend for yourself when you arrive in the country.
The transfer is very simple: there will be a driver carrying a sign with your name on it to meet you when you get off your flight. He will then take you safely to your hotel. The nicest thing is that everything is sorted out in advance, avoiding possible scams that are common against tourists when leaving the airport.
You can search for the ideal transfer here. It’s our trusted site, where we find the best prices. They also sell other services, such as tour tickets, so you can book everything together and save a lot.

Although it is possible to get anywhere in New York by public transportation, many tourists choose to rent a car in the city. So, if this is the case for you, it’s important to know that this is a great alternative, since the car can be used whenever you want, for as long as you want.
You also save a lot of money if you share the car bill with more people, especially when compared to taking a taxi or public transportation. Plus, you’ll be able to carry all your purchases and souvenirs in complete safety when you go to the outlets.
When you arrive at the airport, just pick up your car there, at some of the car rental companies. Then simply set the GPS to your hotel in New York or any other destination of your choice. For example, the drive to downtown is very simple and easy.

How to get from New York airport to your hotel by public transportation?
At JFK Airport:
- AirTrain: the airport’s own train, that connects all the terminals for free. In addition, for a low fare, they also take you to subway stations such as Jamaica and Howard.
- Subway: by going to Jamaica Station (line E, J and Z) or Howard Beach Station (line A), you will have access to the entire subway circuit, which has many stations, especially in the center of Manhattan. Ideally, you should have the MetroCard, a card that allows you to take the bus and subway at cheaper prices.
- Bus: there is a bus stop at Terminal 5. There, you can take different options depending on your destination. The B15 will drop you off in Brooklyn, the Q3 in Queens, the Q7 in East New York; the Q10 in Kew Gardens and Ozone Parks; and the Q6 in Jamaica. Both the MetroCard and cash are used to pay the fare.
At Newark Airport:
- AirTrain: like the previous one, Newark has a train that connects its terminals and also drops you off at some public transport stations. To get to downtown New York, just take the AirTrain to the Rail Link station and go to Penn Station, located in Manhattan.
- Express Bus: at the airport, there is the Express Bus, a bus that takes you from the airport to Times Square, New York’s main avenue, as well as other tourist attractions in the city. The bus runs every day from 5am to 1am. The cost is US$ 18 dollars per person, but children under 5 don’t pay and from 5 to 11 pay US$ 5.
- Bus: there are also regular buses to Bloomfield Train Station (line 28), Ivy Hill (line 37), Elizabeth (line 62), Lakewood (line 67) and South Orange Train Station (line 107).
At LaGuardia Airport:
- NYC airporter bus: there is the NYC airporter bus, which leaves JFK every 30 minutes and passes through the following Manhattan stations: Grand Central Terminal, Penn Station and Port Authority Bus Terminal. It takes you from the airport to downtown New York and from downtown to the airport.
How to get from New York airport to your hotel by cab?
As in many places around the world, it’s very easy to find cabs at the entrances to New York airports. But compared to other ways of getting around the city, we don’t recommend cabs.
New York cabs have a basic starting fare, which costs US$ 3.20. As a result, the final price is unpredictable and can be very expensive, even for simple journeys. You also run the risk of falling for a scam in which taxi drivers charge exorbitant prices for journeys that would cost much less. In this sense, it’s best to get around by public transportation or rent a car.
