See our 1 day in Berlin itinerary. We’ve prepared this itinerary so you can make the most of your time in the city, seeing all the highlights in just one day.
What to do in 1 day in Berlin?
Morning in Berlin
Start the day at Café Kalwil, located on Motzstraße. There you’ll find a variety of breakfast options, including bread, eggs and drinks.
Then take the subway or a cab to the Brandenburg Gate, one of Berlin’s most famous landmarks. The Free Tour of Berlin even has the site as one of its stops. The tour is very interesting because you get to see the city’s main sights for free, only paying a symbolic amount at the end.
Take the opportunity to take photos and appreciate the impressive architecture. A few minutes’ walk from the Brandenburg Gate, visit the Memorial to the Jewish Dead of Europe. There, walk between the concrete blocks and visit the underground information center to learn more about the history of the Holocaust.

Go to the Reichstag, the German Parliament. If possible, book in advance a visit to the glass dome, designed by Norman Foster, which offers a panoramic view of Berlin. Afterwards, stroll along the historic Unter den Linden boulevard to Bebelplatz, where the historic book burning took place in 1933.
Continue to Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. If time allows, choose one of the museums to visit, such as the Pergamonmuseum or the Neues Museum. And for lunch, we suggest the Hackescher Markt, a great place with a variety of restaurants and cafés. Try traditional German cuisine or choose from a range of international options.
Afternoon in Berlin
Walk or take public transport to Alexanderplatz, where you can see the famous TV Tower. Here, you can buy a ticket to visit the tower without having to queue. This saves you time and allows you to climb the tower for a panoramic view of the city.
Take the metro to the East Side Gallery, the largest remaining section of the Berlin Wall, which has been transformed into an open-air art gallery with murals celebrating freedom and reunification.
Head to Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War. The museum next door offers exhibitions on the history of the wall and events at the time.
Nightlife in Berlin
In the evening, take the metro to Potsdamer Platz, a modern and revitalized area with many stores, restaurants and cinemas. Explore the contemporary architecture and vibrant city life. Choose one of the many restaurants in the Sony Center, which offer everything from international cuisine to typical German dishes. It’s a great place to relax and enjoy the evening.
To round off this 1 day in Berlin itinerary, if you have the energy, head back to the East Side Gallery for a night walk or explore the Friedrichshain district, known for its vibrant nightlife. End the evening in one of the local bars or clubs, such as the Watergate or a cozy cocktail bar.
